Ministry, oil companies to discuss lifting of fuel import ban

MOSCOW, Jul 17 (PRIME) -- The Russian oil companies and in the government will discuss next week domestic supplies of fuel and lifting of a fuel import ban, Deputy Energy Minister Pavel Sorokin said in a news conference on Friday.

“We plan to meet with oil companies next week to discuss fulfillment of recommendations of fuel sales on the domestic market and what should be done additionally on the government’s site. … Next week, we plan to hold a government meeting with the oil companies to discuss it, and we will also discuss cancellation of the import ban,” he said.

Sorokin also said that exports of oil products, including diesel fuel and gasoline, plummeted over the past few months as the government recommended oil companies prioritize the domestic market.

“I will say more, we recommend today that oil companies send as much as possible from an expected increase of oil production in August 2020 to the Russian oil refineries to raise their loading and production of automobile gasoline to create commercial reserves for the period of maintenance works so that we guarantee smooth passing of the period without risks,” he said.
